Taiwanese Fragrance, The Light of Ruby
Ruby Black Tea is produced in the tea regions surrounding Sun Moon Lake in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, at elevations of approximately 600 to 800 meters. The Sun Moon Lake tea region features diverse terrain, stable humidity, and suitable temperatures—ideal conditions for black tea production. This area is the birthplace of Taiwan's black tea and is a world-renowned tea-producing region.
Ruby Black Tea is a unique black tea variety native to Taiwan. It was developed by the Yuchi Branch of the Tea Research and Extension Station under Taiwan's Council of Agriculture, using "Taiwan wild mountain tea" as the father tree and "Burma large-leaf black tea" as the mother tree. After over fifty years of experimentation, it was successfully cultivated and named TTES No. 18 in 1999. The tea liquor is a rich golden red, sparkling like a ruby, which inspired its name "Ruby" (Hongyu).
Leaf Appearance: Twisted strips, dark black with a glossy purple sheen
Liquor Color: Clear, bright red with an amber hue, as brilliant as a ruby
Aroma & Flavor: In addition to the citrus-like aroma common to black teas, it offers a distinctive cinnamon fragrance and minty aroma
Texture: Mellow, sweet, and richly unique in flavor
Taiwanese Fragrance: Highly praised by Japanese black tea experts
Ruby Black Tea is a fully fermented black tea, hand-picked and left unchopped, preserving the complete twisted leaf shape. Its most captivating feature is the unique "Taiwanese fragrance"—beyond the citrus notes common to black teas, it exudes cinnamon aroma and a refreshing minty coolness. These two aromas intertwine to create an astonishing flavor experience. This distinctive fragrance, combined with its mellow, sweet taste, makes Ruby Black Tea the pride of Taiwan's black tea industry.
Ruby Black Tea offers numerous health benefits, especially for those with sensitive stomachs:
Undergoes full fermentation, reducing polyphenol content and minimizing stomach irritation
Particularly suitable for individuals with weak or cold digestive systems
Rich in catechins and theaflavins—highly active natural antioxidants
May help reduce the risk of cerebral thrombosis and cerebrovascular blockages
Contains rich protein content, contributing to overall physical strength and health
Whether enjoyed in the morning to awaken the senses, during an afternoon break, or shared with friends, Ruby Black Tea brings warmth and enjoyment. Its unique cinnamon and mint aromas make it especially suitable for autumn and winter, warming both body and soul. Cold brewing highlights its natural sweetness and refreshing character, offering a completely different experience during summer.
